Elephants Footprint Lodge offers excellent accommodation in Colchester, and is situated 2km from the Greater Addo Elephant National Park’s southern gate. This makes it the gateway to the Route of the Giants and the ideal getaway for a unique and unforgettable holiday.

Our cosy, lapa-style lodge under thatch offers accommodation in 12 luxury suites. Guests can enjoy our large garden, our terrace, and Splash pool fed by the fountain.

The lodge is easily accessible and is situated only 1 km off the N2. With us, you are not far from civilization while being only 2km from the southern gate of Addo Elephant Park, the third-largest wildlife reserve in South Africa.

All our rooms are Deluxe En-suite rooms under thatch, made with south african décor. The settings can change from time to time; from twin beds, to double or family rooms with additional beds to welcome families, and our Honeymoon suites.

They welcome you with a large lounge where you can enjoy the coziness, by having a drink, reading, watching TV and more.

All of our rooms have an en suite bathroom, with separate toilets, and an outdoor rock shower.

Lodge Facilities:

Our lounge is situated in the middle of the lodge, a central large and comfortable area, where you can enjoy having a drink at our bar, reading close to our fireplace, chatting with your friends or watching TV.

Our breakfast is a full English/continental breakfast, either à la carte or buffet. Breakfast is included in your room price.

Picnic baskets or braai baskets are available on request on your arrival at the lodge, to offer you a lunch break into the park in the middle of the wildlife.

Our restaurant is situated in the center of the lodge and welcomes all our clients for breakfast and dinner. The spirit of our dishes are South African cuisine and a touch of European flavour, made for your enjoyment. 

We serve continental breakfast, with various choices, which may change from day to day.

Whatever your need, we are here to assist. We cater to vegan, vegetarian, and all other dietary requirements. and must be requested prior to arrival.

Activities around Colchester

Addo Elephant Park:  You can easily do your full day game drive by yourself into your own vehicle in Addo or you can go on a Game drive at the Main Camp at the North Gate.

Game Reserves: Several game reserves offer full day or half day visits including dinner, places where you can see the big five and having a South African dinner around a nice fire.

Daniels Cheetah Sanctuary:  The sanctuary of the cheetah. If you want to be able to say that you have touched a cheetah, caracal, surricat, baby lion or leopard, this is the place to visit.

Cruise on the Sundays River: Unforgettable cruise on the river to discover fauna and flora of the Sundays River and walk on the dune.
