Pets (and Small Children)
Pets are welcome, but give us some warning so we can put the ducks away. Pets are free to roam in the fenced area surrounding the cottages.
However, while we welcome guests to wander around the farm, we require pets to be kept leashed when beyond the cottage gardens as Afsaal (and Haarlem generally) has an abundance of free-ranging farm animals and wildlife (such as birds, ducks, wild fowl, mongoose, wild hare and even rare Cape otters).
Children are similarly welcome to play and meet the farm animals under adult supervision (we would be happy to provide introductions to Rosey the pig if she is being shy).
Experience a gentle and tranquil pace - where local children ride plow horses down the streets for entertainment, and local donkeys and livestock roam the sidewalks, trimming the grass.
If you are feeling energetic, explore the surrounding area with fascinating drives, riding and walking trails, boer war sites and scenery.
