Geography and History
The Bay of Port Elizabeth (Nelson Mandela Bay) is located on the South-Eastern coast of of the Eastern Cape province of South Africa along the shores of Algoa Bay. Port Elizabeth, known as the "Friendly City", offers true freedom of choice. Nelson Mandela Bay is named after South Africa's former President, Nelson Mandela. The estimated population of Nelson Mandela Bay comprises over 1,1 million, making it South Africa's sixth largest metropolitan municipality in terms of population and the sixth largest in terms of area. Other towns in this district include Uitenage and Despatch.
