Hillbilly Farm - Farm Style Self Catering Accommodation, Farm Stall and Activities on a working farm near Ceres, Cape Winelands, Western Cape
Welcome to Hillbilly farm, nestled in the Breede River Valley, on the Route 43, at the foot of Mostertshoek Mountain, only 90 minutes from Cape Town CBD. Hillbilly Farm is a working farm surrounded by majestic mountain ranges, fertile farmlands and breathtaking landscapes. The farm offers a selection of rustic accommodation approximately 7 km from Wolseley, 9 km from Ceres and 22 km from Tulbagh.
The farm stay is ideal for those who love the outdoors and animals. There are lots of dogs and a variety of free-range animals, including cows, goats, geese which guests can observe or even interact with.
The terrain is home to baboons, dassies, mongooses, genet and a host of birds such as spurfowl, guinea fowl, Black (Verreaux's) Eagles, Jackal Buzzard, Cape Eagle owls, gymnogenes and more. You can often hear the enthralling cry of fish eagles soaring over the valley...
Hillbilly Farm Accommodation
The Roost
The Roost is a gorgeous little room, located in the inner circle, about 5m away from the facilities. It has a double bed and a bunk-bed, and sleeps 4 guests. There is a kettle with complimentary tea, coffee etc, and a small bar fridge. The Roost is situated in the inner circle, and 5m away from the communal toilets and showers.
The Bunker
The Bunker is a military themed, back-packer type room, with three bunk-beds that can sleep 6 guests. The Bunker is situated in the inner circle, and 5m away from the communal toilets and showers. The Roost & The Bunker are next to the Galley, which is equipped with a gas/electric stove-top, a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.
The Cowshed
The Cowshed sleeps 4 guests. It has two single beds and a bunk-bed, and a leather lazy-boy couch. It is our most rustic (and remote) of rooms, situated down on the pasture, about 50m from the facilities. It has no electricity, but a small solar-panel provides lighting at night. This room is made for the adventurous, and as we keep developing our farm, so we plan to add more creature comforts as time goes by. Don't forget your torch!
Facilities at Hillbilly Farm
THE GALLEY - The galley is equipt with a fridge, kettle, microwave and toaster. There is also a gas/electric stove-top. There are some pots, pans and a few pyrex dishes, as well as cutlery and crockery. There is stock of various non-perishables which can be used on an honesty-purchase basis.
THE LAPA - There is an outside bar with a wood stove, in the lapa, and a communal braai area that can be used. If you plan to enjoy your evening cooking saffa style (ie outdoors), we have bags of wood for sale, and will accommodate you as best we can.
ABLUTIONS - There are outside gas showers and a wash basin. Scrubbing with a view of the stars is an amazing way to relieve stress on the soul. The flush toilets are about 5m away from the Roost and Bunker.
Farm Stall at Hillbilly Farm
Our farm stall stocks our local butchers' braai meat, bacon etc. We also grow a variety of chillies, and make a wide range of chilli sauces. There are artisan cheeses, delicious salami, and mouth watering braai vleis. Jams and pickles, rusks and cookies, olives and honey, and all those other items you want to treat yourself with fill the shelves.
We have a large grassed area to relax in, maybe with one of the local craft beers or ciders we stock... And some entertainment for the kiddies, including a little zipline and swings, or take them on in a bit of swingball.
Come enjoy lunch under the trees, and watch the pretty birdlife, or our grazing Ngunis (depending on their movements at the time). The kids will love it, hand dad a beer, and enjoy the magnificent views.

Directions: From the N1, just before Worcester, turn left onto the R43 – Ceres. Travel about 37km’s, then turn right onto Wolwekloof Road. Our entrance is about 10m up the road, on the right. There are various scenic and/or direct routes, on and off-road, to and from our venue.
