Montagu is a charming, historic town on the famous Route 62 halfway between Cape Town and the Garden Route. Montagu offers visitors beautiful mountain views, crystal clear air, a perfect climate and lots of activities to suit all tastes! Montagu is the ideal breakaway spot from city life.
Known as the ‘mountain mecca’ of the Cape, Montagu is surrounded by the Langeberg mountain range and nestles between the Keisie and Kingna Rivers in the Wwestern corner of Kannaland. Montagu is best known for its orchards, vineyards, local herbs, rock formations and healing hot mineral springs.
Take a stroll through the village of Montagu and view the fascinating architecture and the many historic buildings. You can enjoy some of the best-preserved homes from the ox-wagon days just along Long street. Montagu has most national monuments in one street than any other town in the country!

A must do is the famous tractor-ride to the top of the Langeberg Mountains on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with the option of a potjiekos lunch.
Other activities include, Horse riding, An old English fort, the Nature garden, with tea and refreshments served on Tuesdays during summer and the Big Five are not to far off.
