Six things to do in Cape Town this summer.

Whether you are a local or a tourist in Cape Town, there are so many things to do. Staying in a city as beautiful as Cape Town means that you will be left with so many options, and most probably too little time. Here are six things to tick off your bucket list in Cape Town this summer.

1.Waterfront

If you think of Cape Town, one of the first destinations that pop up in your mind when thinking of places to visits, has to be the V&A Waterfront. It combines a historical harbour with a modern shopping experience. It was developed in 1988 and has remained a go-to place ever since. You can easily spend an entire day walking around the shops, fine dining, trying out the various market food and cruising in the harbour. The V&A Waterfront is a great place for the entire family. Kids will be kept entertained for hours on the outside jungle area. Enjoy Cape Town’s spectacular views from the Cape Wheel which offers 360-degree panoramic views of the Mother City.

2.  Boulders Beach

If you have ever visited Boulders Beach, you will quickly agree that this is paradise on our doorsteps. The beach is near Simon’s Town and is surrounded by ancient granite boulders which give the beach protection from wind. It is the ideal place for the kids as the waves are fairly small and gentle. It is situated in the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area, which means it is in a conservation area. If this hasn’t sold this location to you yet, then the fact that the beach is home to penguins might. The local inhabitants waddle around the beach and swim happily around.

3. Café Caprice

Café Caprice is most popular during the summer months for their delicious sundowners, good music and high society crowd. Situated on the Camps Bay Strip, Caprice has been open since 2001 and is still a hotspot for locals and tourists. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Caprice is proud of their exquisite surroundings. This is the perfect spot to enjoy after a day on Camps Bay beach. Tuck into a delicious meal while experiencing Cape Town’s true cosmopolitan social scene. If you enjoy deep house music, sunsets to die for and great cocktails, then this spot is a must try this summer.

4. SUP Cape Town

If you have never tried to stand up paddle, then this summer you simply have to give it a go! SUP Cape Town is located near the CTICC in Cape Town. They offer introductory lessons in stand up paddle boarding. Rent a board and paddle out to enjoy routes that take you through the Waterfront canals. This is a great way to see the city and learn how to stand up paddle before hitting the open ocean. Learn in a  relaxed environment and surrounded by people who are as passionate about SUP as they are about Cape Town. During summer SUP Cape Town also hires boards out on Clifton 4th beach. This is a great way to experience stand up paddling in the open ocean while still doing it where the waves are calm.

5. Lion’s Head

Lion’s Head is a mountain in Cape Town that peaks at 669 meters above sea level. The mountain is distinctly shaped like a lion and overlooks Table Bay on one side and the scenic Atlantic Ocean coastline on the other. It is a moderately easy walk to the top of Lion’s Head and is enjoyed by many during the day and for early sunrises or sunsets. The walk should take you about an hour and a half to the top and once you are on top you can enjoy a picnic while taking in the breathtaking view. This hike is dog-friendly, so if your dog is fit enough and you are able to walk the path that detours the series of chains then pack in water and a bowl and enjoy it with your four-legged besties.

6. Rockwell

Rockwell is located in Cape Town’s trendy De Waterkant Village in Greenpoint. The Rockwell All Suite Hotel offers 4-star accommodation in Cape Town. If luxury is what you are looking for then this spot is a must try. Rockwell has various apartments and penthouses to choose from. Enjoy your stay while overlooking the city centre and in the evenings the bustling night life. At night enjoy what the Mother City has to offer or watch a show at the Rockwell Theatre. The hotel has a temperature-controlled indoor pool and a gym as well as a health and beauty suite. Guests are treated with the utmost care and made to feel right at home at all times.
